And we are here once again: Aurora redux

And we are here once again and everybody has their agenda .. gun control, evil, break down in society... ad nausaum .. and what won't they talk about? How it is virtually impossible in this country to do a long term involuntary hospitalization for someone with is mentally ill.

Why… ?  And don't talk about civil rights to me… why do we let people who are severely mentally ill make their own healthcare decisions.? We don't  allow children or the senile to make theses kinds of decisions for themselves, but we do allow psychotics.

The reason..we just do not want to spend money on the mentally ill..

You want to blame someone,  blame the people who cut funding for mental healthcare, blame the people who fight against change in involuntary hospitalization laws because it is now virtually impossible to do a long term involuntary hospitalization before anything happens, blame the for- profit  healthcare industry which really does NOT want to spend money on mental health.

The majority of the mentally ill are not violent and  we are OK with them eating out of garbage cans and sleeping under bridges so we can ignore most of them and forget the tragedy of their lives and their family's lives. But then we have this tiny minority which acts out with violence and we are forced to pay attention and we still don't want to talk about the problem.

WE DO NOT WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON MENTAL ILLNESS

I will save this post because in a month or year some other mentally ill person will do the same thing and we will have the same respond and no one will talk about the public heath crisis we have with mental illness. We'll just get use to it because you can't solve a problem if you pretend it doesn't exist.
